Biography

John Buxton, founder and president of Windward Project Management, has over 35 years of experience as a project management practitioner, instructor, and consultant. John is a licensed professional engineer who understands technology-based projects. Advanced degrees in business and finance broaden the scope of his expertise to include the strategic and financial components that drive organizational success.

  • John has delivered training and consulting services for domestic and international clients in over 30 countries worldwide. He has supported the commercial sector and government agencies. Representative industries include aerospace, defense, manufacturing, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, medical research and development, information technology, construction, energy, and finance.
  • John holds certifications as a Registered Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PMP)® and Certified Earned Value Professional (EVP). John is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International (AACEI). He also sits on the Advisory Panel for the United States Air Force Academy Department of Aeronautics. John is a retired United States Air Force officer who served as a pilot, Air Force Academy faculty member, and project manager for international programs.
